angels and demons da vinci code

"Until about two years ago whenever I was introduced to anyone and the conversation came round to my being involved with particle accelerators the usual reaction was a polite pretence of interest, followed by a rapid change of subject. People just didn't understand. Now, however, the immediate response is, "Oh, then you must have read Angels and Demons!". With his explanation of particle accelerators in this book Dan Brown has opened up our field to a wider audience and made us socially acceptable.

Dan Brown's novels prove to be extremely addictive, and from Angels and Demons it is only a short step to his other blockbuster The Da Vinci Code, the action of which culminates at Rosslyn Chapel - built by the Knights Templar, supposedly the final resting place of the Holy Grail, and easily accessible from EPAC'06!

Guided tours including Rosslyn Chapel run by Timberbush Tours depart from central Edinburgh on Mondays and Thursdays. Alternatively the Chapel can be reached on any day by the local bus service. Why not take the opportunity to visit Rosslyn during your stay in Edinburgh?"

"Particle accelerators ... are critical to the future of science. Colliding particles is the key to understanding the building blocks of the universe."

(Angels and Demons - Dan Brown)

"Every surface in the chapel has been carved with symbols - Christian cruciforms, Jewish stars, Masonic seals,Templar crosses, cornucopias, pyramids, astrological signs, plants, vegetables, pentacles and roses. The Knights Templar had been master stonemasons, erecting Templar churches all over Europe, but Rosslyn was considered their most sublime labour of love and veneration."
